Ringing in the New Year!

The first of 12 themed CDs, Ringing in the New Year contains songs for January but with a twist.

The first song, The Way You Look Tonight, is to recognize how beautiful everyone looks when they are decked out for New Year’s Eve. We then welcome in the New Year with two songs before heading out to a New Year’s Day parade. For me that was the Mummers Parade in south Philadelphia and the Beer Barrel Polka was one of many songs you heard there. Songs five and six are about babies. What is that about? Everyone makes a big deal about the first baby of the year. (continued below)

To me, New Year’s resolutions are nothing more than dreams and wishes and that is how we arrive at songs seven through nine. The songs following that are about possible resolutions you might make. If finding Mr. or Ms. Right is on your list, I have a potion to help you (Love Potion #9) and then after you find him or her, a wonderful love song to celebrate (Unforgettable). You may simply want good luck (Luck Be a Lady) or want to go on a vacation, maybe a cruise (Love Boat Theme). The CD finishes with some reminiscing and reminders. “Remember When” is a beautiful Alan Jackson song that takes us through life’s cycles. We should always remember that “The Best Things in Life Are Free” and that we live in the greatest country on the planet (America). I conclude with Ray Steven’s “Everything is Beautiful.” It is a song that essentially says to accept everyone for who they are, not the color of their skin or their beliefs. Those are wonderful sentiments with which to start a new year.

Enjoy!
