Inês’ Delgado’s greatest purpose is to explore how music can help, empower and inspire others. Her passion is to design and offer meaningful musical experiences – performances, teaching and workshops – based on her strong belief that music has the power to enhance people’s health, wellbeing, happiness and confidence.
With a classical music training from the Royal College of Music in London, where she completed her Bachelor and Masters Degrees, Inês has an extensive performance experience, being particularly passionate about orchestra and chamber music playing. Her many successes as a classical violinist include: being a 2020/2021 Foyle Future First violinist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (London); ongoing trial with the Ulster Orchestra (Ireland) for the position of second violin Section Leader; being awarded a place at the English National Opera Evolve Scheme; and various performances at some of the most prestigious venues in France (Arc du Triomphe and Opera Comique), Israel (Tel-Aviv Opera House), Portugal (Casa da Música and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian), and the UK (including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Kings Place and Royal Festival Hall).
Her devotion to making music accessible to all and her passion for empowering others through musical activities, took Inês into a new adventure in her musical journey: the world of community music. To her, community music is about leading fun, inclusive and empowering musical experiences; inspiring others to use music as a tool for self- discovery and self-development; and creating an exciting and supportive community brought together by their love for music.
Since she started exploring the world of community music, back in 2014, Inês soon understood that her greatest passion is to take live music and workshops to those who can not normally access those opportunities, which is particularly the case with vulnerable people and older people. She has therefore performed in hospitals, community centres and care homes, and her greatest joy comes from her work with Turtle Song – a singing and songwriting project for people living with dementia, which she joined in 2018. She is currently Turtle Song’s Musical Ambassador, and upcoming projects include the Turtle Song Roadshow, which will take more singing and songwriting to various care homes around London. Currently, Inês is determined to further develop her skills as a community music facilitator and leader, and she is proud to be training as one of the five artists selected for the 2021 Wigmore Hall Pathways Placement, where she is currently working with people with dementia and young people with autism.
Originally from Portugal, Inês Delgado has been living in London since 2014. Her Masters studies were fully supported by the prestigious Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Her other passions include being in nature, travelling and exploring new cultures, discovering new styles of music and different types of art, learning and reading about the human mind and psychology, and an immense love for horses!
