Gavin is PSS Youth Services Manager. Originally from Syracuse, New York Gavin graduated from the University of Vermont with degree in Economics & Sociology. His previous work focused on organizing people and outreach for progressive causes in over a dozen different cities, from New Orleans to Kansas City to Philadelphia and finally in New York City. Gavin joined the PSS team in 2018.
Anya Metlitsky-Herasme is PSS Senior Director of Older Adult Services. She oversees PSS’s nine senior centers throughout the Bronx and Manhattan and three senior residences including the Grandparent Family Apartments. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker and received her Seminar in Field Instruction from Lehman College. She is a Master Trainer in two Evidence Based Programs: A Matter of Balance falls prevention program and Powerful Tools for Caregivers. She is a member of LiveOn NY’s action committee and holds a certification in Mental Health First Aid. Anya received a BA in Communications from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in New York. She joined PSS as a social work intern in 2011.

The PSS/WFF Grandparent Family Apartments in the Bronx is the first residence built in the U.S. specifically for grandparents raising grandchildren. It serves as the hub for the Presbyterian Senior Services Kinship Caregivers Program where professional staff and partners provide a range of services both to the residents and throughout New York City to kinship caregivers – young and old. Kinship caregiving families face a unique set of challenges that require innovative solutions. This session will inform attendees on best practices in serving this population.

Tanya Brown is no stranger to adversity or trauma. With the loss of her sister, Nicole Brown Simpson, she has faced overwhelming life challenges but used these obstacles to ultimately improve the quality of her life. Tanya became a domestic violence advocate, doing speaking engagements and training that would inform people about the horror of abuse at home. Adding to her repertoire, ten years after the loss of Nicole, Tanya suffered a mental breakdown; and as a result, she has made a personal commitment to speak on the issues of how to overcome adversity and promote HEALTHY mental health for overall wellbeing. She has become a nationally recognized author, speaker and life coach who uses the lessons from her experience with Nicole and her own suicide attempt to help others cope with life’s challenges.

Rimas is Executive Director of PSS. He has an MA in Human Services and an MPA. He has lead a number of regional and national nonprofit agencies over the past 30 years. Coming of Age is one of the programs of PSS, the multi service nonprofit in NYC that he has directed since 2009.
Pam Ramsden is Manager of Coming of Age. She majored in both Psychology and Communications at the University of Dayton and earned an M.A. in Clinical/Community Psychology from Chapman University. Her professional experience includes: social work, psychometrics, HR, vocational counseling, conference planning and writing. As Manager of Coming of Age,she recruits speakers, initiates workshops and special events, produces monthly newsletters all to inspire people 50 and older to live with passion and purpose.
