Liz (pronounced voy-tall) got her start leading her hometown church folk group in Verona, N.J., then started writing her own music.

“I was inspired by singers like Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, The Eagles, Neil Young, CSN and Carole King”, to name a few. The youngest of 12 children, she grew up ‘surrounded’ by an eclectic array of music. While her day job has included Dean of Students at Staten Island Academy to her current position with the New York City Department of Education, her passion has been performing live music.

Reminiscent of pioneering female folk singers such as Joan Baez ,Judy Collins and of course, Joni Mitchell ,her music is earnest, fresh and simple, and often reflects the importance of family and friends. In 1999 she released her first album ‘ Missing Peace’ and followed it up with Better Days in 2002.

A consummate performer and ‘crowd-pleaser’, she has played many venues in the NYC area including numerous times at famous Stone Pony, one performance of which she and her band ‘Next of Kin’ opened for the legendary 60’s group Vanilla Fudge. In June, 2008 Liz and Next of Kin won the “Excellence in Performance” award from COASHI (Staten Island Council on the Arts and Humanities).

Liz is currently working on her third album, and performs regularly in the NY tri-state area.   Like us on Facebook: Liz Wojtal and Next of Kin.  For more booking information, contact Liz Wojtal at (347) 733-8626 emwojtal@aol.com.
